OUR STORY
GCB builds on the success of General Counsel Netherlands (GCN), founded in 2013 by Michiel van Straaten who, having served as General Counsel at an insurance company, realized the need for a peer network to exchange ideas on challenges beyond pure legal issues. GCN has grown over the years into the leading GC network in the Netherlands, with the majority of Dutch GCs, CLOs and Heads of Legal as members. For more info: www.generalcounsel.nl
In 2016, GCN launched the international General Counsel Academy (GCA), offering a five-day executive program: a mini-MBA designed for GCs worldwide. This program attracts participants from across Europe, the US, the Middle East, and Africa, and is consistently rated as outstanding.

In collaboration with several Belgian General Counsel, the GCN and GCA teams founded GCB in the autumn of 2025. Our goal is to offer an ambitious, modern, and professional network where General Counsel in Belgium can connect and share experiences in a confidential and informal setting, enabling them to respond effectively to rapid changes in their work environment.
